Is man master of his situation? Matthias Georg Kendlinger tackles this issue from his first symphony, ,,Manipulation", head on in this work. This almost 11 minute long meditation provides the space to grapple with your own life again, or at least to find a trigger to do so. 
To what extent can positive thinking, impulses from people that we believe in and our own willpower be beneficial to our convalescence? To what extent does music possess the healing quality that is often attributed to it? 
A letter Kendlinger received from a concert-visitor suffering from cancer, who was absolutely convinced that listening to music regularly had healed him, made a deep impression on the composer. Kendlinger himself also had to learn recently how to deal with a long-term illness. - A moment of self-reflection that encouraged him to make his own healing process the subject of this work.
